We took a creepy day trip to St. Joseph, Missouri this Saturday. Why "creepy"? Well...
This lovely mannequin was part of an exhibit at the Glore Psychiatric Museum. She was modeling one of the many varieties of restraints used on mental patients throughout history. The museum showcased other treatment techniques including electroconvulsive therapy:
bloodletting:
and putting people in cages(!):
The museum building also houses some unrelated exhibits, including one on Civil War Medicine, where we posed as a 19th-century family...
...and Emerson hung out in front of pictures of corpses.
Oh yeah--and the museum was just steps away from a prison.
After those scintillating educational experiences, we stopped for lunch at Ford's Drive-In. If you go, we recommend the Pepper Balls.
The staff sported t-shirts with a picture on the back, presumably of Mr. Ford, but Brandon thought it looked like Obama.
We also went to check out the Jesse James Home, but unfortunately it was closed by the time we got there. But don't worry, there were still adventures to be had.
Wheeeeee!

Whoa! That's got to be the weirdest museum ever. We'd totally dig it, I'm sure. :)
