The Proposal, Part I

Hello family and friends! This is the story of how Brandon proposed.

First, Brandon put a pillowcase over my head (he asked my permission first). He drove me to a secret location.
Meanwhile, his roommates were at the scene, making preparations.


We arrived at our destination: Bridal Veil Falls. Once I got the pillowcase off my head, I looked down toward the river and saw this message:


All of a sudden, I heard a strange noise behind me. I turned around to see this guy running toward us. As he ran by, he tossed a box to Brandon.
Inside the box was a ring. Brandon got down on one knee and I said yes.
(PS: This is a temporary ring that Brandon got for the occasion. Tomorrow we'll be picking out the real ring. I'll post pictures when we have them.)

Yesterday's (unfortunately, real) Letter to the Editor:

"I've noticed an interesting trend on campus. It seems like everywhere I go, I see someone wearing a t-shirt bearing the logo "Cecil is my homeboy" with a picture of President Samuelson holding the saying. I can't decide what to think about them. They are funny, but I can't decide if they are appropriate or inappropriate in their humor. Does President Samuelson know these are being made and, if so, how does he feel about them? I mean, if the subject matter was President Hinckley, it would be obviously inappropriate, but President Samuelson's a little bit different. He is a general authority and all, but I don't know if I should find these shirts offensive or not.

Maybe the honor code has jurisdiction over this. Is it offensive? I'm not sure what to think, but they are out there, and they are at the very least worth noticing."

Fruit of the Gods

I'd like to talk about grapefruit for a moment. I believe it is one of the best things in the world. If you have a grapefruit in your house right now, go and smell it. Let that wonderful citrus-y aroma fill your soul with utter happiness and euphoria. I might trade my firstborn for a grapefruit, if it was a good one. If I could live among grapefruit trees, I think my life would be happy.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who coached the Jordan-led Chicago Bulls to six championships in the 1990s, said Bryant's single-game performance surpassed anything Jordan ever did on a given night.

“This wasn't about Bryant being a ball hog or a bad teammate. Quite the contrary. The Los Angeles Lakers were getting pounded by the Toronto Raptors (down 16 at one point) until Kobe looked at his bad teammates and decided to try to win the game – which the Lakers did, 122-104.
