It's hard to believe, but Hugo is two weeks old! We're getting used to being a family of four.
Continuing a tradition we started with Emerson, we had donuts to celebrate Hugo's one-week birthday. That day also happened to be National Donut Day, which actually created a bit of a challenge because the first donut shop we went to had run out of donuts. (Who runs out of donuts on National Donut Day???) But Donut King came through for us in the end.
We are starting to discover the difficulty of getting a decent picture of four humans and a dog, especially when two of the humans have tiny bodies and attention spans to match. (Poor Hugo did not fare well in most of these shots...oops.)
We had a great visit from Grandma Lori!
This is the fountain/reflection pool at Liberty Memorial. Last summer, we were here with some visiting relatives, and Emerson decided to check out the water...as in, he walked straight into the pool and ended up fully submerged before Brandon scooped him out! This year, he seemed to have a better grasp of the situation and enjoyed walking around the levels with Daddy and Brisquette.
He's getting so big!
Emerson had a fun day out with Grandma Lori--they visited the aquarium, and Emerson got to touch a starfish.
Meanwhile, Hugo aced his two-week checkup! He weighs 8 lbs, 15 oz.--almost a pound over his birth weight. Good work, kiddo.
And for those who like this sort of thing...here's Hugo's birth story. Usual disclaimers apply (i.e., there's no way to tell a birth story without a little TMI)!
