Blogging the Beach (Oregon)

We just got back from an epic vacation, including three states and two family reunions. This and the next few posts will document all our adventures.

Our flight out of Kansas City was very early, and due to some miscommunications, we ended up missing it (just barely!). We actually were able to get on alternate flights pretty easily, although instead of the two flights originally scheduled, we had to take three flights to get to our destination. Emerson snuggled with Mommy for much of the trip.

We ate a yummy sandwich during a stop at the Oakland airport, not on our original itinerary.

We finally made it to Oregon (including our luggage!), and were happy to meet the Stones there. Emerson especially enjoyed spending time with Eric, who he calls "Ah-ka."

The Stone family reunion took place at a beach house in Lincoln City, Oregon. The weather was pretty good, so we were able to spend lots of time outdoors enjoying the beach and the beautiful scenery.

Emerson loved running on the sand and wading in the waves.

He was happy to see "Bubba" (Grandma) and "Buppa" (Grandpa) too!

There was also time to play in the sand (and eat some too).

The whole group! (Plus a cutout of Uncle Neil, currently on his mission in Salt Lake City.)

Several members of this intrepid group ventured out to see World War Z, which turned out to be a terrifying adventure--not so much because of the movie, but because the theater was completely freezing! Our feet were numb and our teeth were chattering by the time the movie was over.

On our last night in Oregon, we went with Meghan and family to the Stepping Stone Cafe, where we ate some giant pancakes (excuse me, "mancakes").

And of course it wouldn't be a trip to Oregon without visiting the lake and park near Grandma Stone's house. Emerson got a huge kick out of the swings, as you can see.

Here are some more highlights of the Oregon portion of the trip, from Emerson's perspective:
