Out and About

We've gone on several outings this week with Emerson. He had his first sampling of Kansas City barbecue...

At his two-week checkup, he weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces. Way to grow!

We've had a couple of unseasonably warm days, so we took advantage of the weather and headed out to Loose Park

The park has a memorial for the Civil War Battle of Westport (the relevant part of the linked video starts at 7:20. Or you can watch the whole...awesome...thing.). We were only a day late for the battle's 147th anniversary.

 Some lovely fall scenery.

We also ate at one of our favorite spots, Mama's 39th St. Diner. Emerson will have to wait to try their deep-fried cinnamon rolls, however.

The new dad takes a nap on top of folded baby laundry--with his faithful companion, of course.

 Visiting grandma can't get enough!

Emerson also had his first "real" bath...

...and he was wide awake afterwards!

In his wide awake look he totally looks like your dad! I always loved giving baths in those little plastic tubs. He is too cute!

It is so beautiful there!! So much fun to enjoy the fall weather with your cute little guy. And seriously, napping on folded baby laundry is quite normal. :-)
