On our exploring trip, we came across these historical sites. The Jefferson Hunt Memorial is located about 30 miles southwest of Cedar City. Click on the plaque to enlarge it and read about Jefferson Hunt and his wagon party.

This side of the Jefferson Hunt Memorial reads "Short Cut: 119 Wagons Turned West Here 1849."

We also explored the ruins of Old Irontown (about 25 miles southwest of Cedar City) where Brigham Young sent several families to mine iron in the 1870s. Here, Brandon poses with the charcoal kiln where they created the fuel for the iron works. I am in the ruins of another building nearby.
